Cookie Policy
Last updated: 5 October 2026
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage) used by Career Catalyst Screener, as required by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR).
Strictly necessary only
We only use cookies and storage that are strictly necessary to provide the Service you have asked for, such as keeping you signed in, taking a payment you have started, or remembering a setting you chose. The law does not require consent for these, so we don't show a cookie banner.
We do not use analytics, advertising, social media or tracking cookies, and we don't allow third parties to track you across other websites. Fonts are served from our own site. If this ever changes, we will ask for your consent first and update this page.
What we use
| Name | Set by | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| __session, __client_uat, __clerk_* | Clerk (sign-in) | Keeps you signed in and protects your account from session theft. | Session, and up to 1 year to stay signed in |
| Paddle checkout cookies | Paddle (payments) | Only on the Billing page when you start a checkout: processes your payment securely and prevents fraud. | Set by Paddle for the checkout |
| cc-theme (local storage) | The Career Catalyst | Remembers whether you chose light or dark mode. | Until you clear it |
| cc-seen-notifications (local storage) | The Career Catalyst | Remembers which notifications you have already seen, so the bell only counts new ones. | Until you clear it |
| cc-access (session storage) | The Career Catalyst | Remembers for this browser tab whether to show the Admin link. | Until you close the tab |
Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Because ours are strictly necessary, blocking them will stop you signing in or paying, but won't affect the public website. See the ICO's guide to cookies for help.
